Co-founded partnership which acquired sites, funded, secured lease with Edinburgh University, developed, operated and sold 532 beds across two sites in Edinburgh

Atelier Property Management Limited (2011-present)

Founder and managing director of development and property management business

Ziggurat Student Living and Fawley Bridge Student Accommodation (2009-2016)

Founder of designated member of partnerships which sourced, financed, operated and sold Wellgate House in Edinburgh (64 beds), Kings Road in Reading (76 beds), Loddon House in Reading (101 beds) and established the Ziggurat Student Investment Unit Trust as a QIAIF in Ireland which bought the Montrose Hotel in Dublin and redeveloped it into PBSA of 205 beds and commercial space (currently for sale)

UNITE Group plc (2002-2009)

Regional Development Director, London (2002-2004); Managing Director, Development, London & Scotland (2004-2006), Managing Director, London (2006-2009); Managing Director, Special Projects (2009). Instrumental in developing the London PBSA portfolio from 260 to 8,000 beds.

Moorfield Group plc (2000-2001)

Director of Domain, JV with Bank of Scotland, working on the acquisition, development and management of 2,000 beds, including the purchase of a 750 bed scheme at Prescot Street, Liverpool and acquiring and obtaining planning permission for a 288 bed development in Cardiff

JC Rathbone Associates (1994-1999)

Structured finance and interest rate risk management, advising on over £2 billion of equity and debt investments

Having studied English (MA) at Jesus College, Cambridge, Matthew began his career at Coopers & Lybrand where he trained as an accountant, completing the first year ACA conversion course exams.
